Polka Dots & Lucid Dreams

OUTFIT DETAILS:
polka dot shirt: ross
cardigan, belt, oxfords & plaid skirt: thrifted
deer brooch: stoic & pariah (cute deer brooch)

The past few weeks, I've been having a lot of lucid dreams. It's really creepy & really awesome at the same time, haha. It's this weird struggle of me becoming conscious within my dream, trying to wake up, and my brain sort of rerouting me, and keeping me trapped in the dream world. It's really weird. The first time it happened, it was incredibly horrifying. But each time it happens, I gain a little more control of the dreams, and I can manipulate the world around me, just slightly. A few days ago, I was dreaming - I was in the middle of a dimly lit room, and then suddenly I thought, "Hey, wait! I'm totally dreaming right now! This isn't real!" and I reached down and felt the carpet on the floor, as if it would prove to me that I was dreaming. I figured it wouldn't feel like real carpet, and that would be proof enough? but it DID feel real! Damn - there went that theory. Then I thought, wait a minute, my brain's just tricking me! So I thought, "If I'm dreaming, then I'll be able to do somethin' impossible, like make my hand disappear." So I looked down, and concentrated really hard, and slowly, my hand became transparent. Ha! I knew it. I finally proved to myself I was dreaming. So guess what happened next? I woke up :) but in a different dream! haha. A dream in which I just woke up from a lucid dream - and I believed it completely. What a trip.

Brains are weird.
Dreams are weird.

Oh, and in other news, Franklin and I are thinking of putting together a project for a kickstarter. Have any of you ever used kickstarter before?

    1. Thanks! :) and, oh man, I know! I especially hate those dreams where you've dreamed you've been at work. It's like working an extra shift and not getting paid for it, haha.

    1. Thank you, ma'am! :) and, oh I know, it's kind of overwhelming how many different projects are on there. I always wonder how many of the supporters are just friends or are already involved with the project somehow, and how many are complete strangers, haha.

  3. Great outfit. I love the mixing of polka dots and plaid.

I've not used kickstarter, but have seen a lot of successful campaigns on there.

  4. OMIGOSH I GET LUCID DREAMS!!! They seem to come in big bursts (I'll have several for weeks in a row, then just normal dreams) but I can totally totally relate to these sensations. I feel things in my dream too to sense whether it is real or to test it. I reached down to the ground too and felt a bandaid that was lying there (weird, i know) and I could feel the edges around it and where it separated from the floor, so strange...I have described this experience to other people but few could relate to it. Interesting to hear you've had some of the same experiences! Very cute outfit by the way, I absolutely love how you put things together Elizabeth, you always end up looking adorable! :)

    1. ME TOO!!! I get them one night after another for a week or so, and then I'll go months without having one! Ah, I'm so glad you know what I'm talking about, haha. I remember the first time it happened, it was SO scary, because the dream was SO real. I felt like I was being ripped out of reality, and when I woke up, it took me a while to believe what was around me, haha. oh man! whew! have you had any scary ones like that? oh, and thank you! ;D

  6. Oh, it is always so fun if you can control your dreams and a little scary sometimes when you can't. Lately I haven't been remembering my dreams at all. I wonder what that means... ??

  7. I hear that if you keep a dream journal, you'll be able to have greater control in your dreams. I still have yet to try it but it sounds verrry interesting. P.S. I love the muted tones in your outfit!

    1. thanks! and, I tried keeping a dream journal once, and it felt like during that period, my dreams became more long, intricate and weird, haha. or maybe I was just remembering more? I only did it for a week or two though, and then completely forgot about it, haha. but I should try it again! experiments are fun :)
