I finally changed my last name! It's so weird that the last name I was born with, and identified with for 24 years, has just been expelled from my legal name and replaced with a new one. Also, it's surprisingly difficult to change one's signature. My first name gets scribbled so effortlessly, and sloppily, while my new last name stands out all self-aware and awkward. I'll get the hang of it eventually, and make it mine, but right now I'm still adjusting, haha.
In other news: I had a surprisingly good experience with the DMV today. Is that a rare occurence or what? I've spent my life believing in that universal truth - that all people who work at the DMV are inexplicably grumpy & mean. But today, I had a really nice, friendly old guy help me with my license renewal, and I was so shocked! That was, until I had to go see the lady that takes the pictures, and she lived up to my previous expectations of a DMV employee, haha - what a crank!

I've actually been struggling with the decision to change my name or not when I get married. It seems like such a big decision! Congrats on changing yours! Also, I ADORE that blue skirt. Total score there.

Thank you! ;D It is a hard decision. I WAS going to keep my maiden name as an additional middle name, but I already have two middle names! haha, so I left it in the dust, sadly :/ haha. Have you considered the hyphenated alternative by chance?
DeleteNot really...... I'm not too into the hyphenated idea. I'll probably just go for it! His last name is Groom. Funny eh? I like your idea of adding a second middle name.
DeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :)
ReplyDeleteYou guys are both so cute together! (yes, I just spent entirely too much time browsing your blog) That skirt is gorgeous, and I'm loving all of the colors in this outfit.

aw, thanks! haha :) and, I super dig your blog, so thanks for stopping by mine! ;D
DeleteSuper cute outfit :) Love the top that you made yourself! It felt a little weird when I changed my name too, haha. Although, I went with a hyphenated last name (Molin-Graves) because I wanted to preserve my family name while also adopting Daniel's. It was the perfect compromise for me, and the only annoying thing is having to spell my last name for people (especially over the phone) I have to express explicitly that there is a dash in between and no one ever knows how to spell "Molin" as it's pronounced "Mole-een" haha.
ReplyDeleteYou know what? Growing up, I had always said that if I got married I'd get a hyphenated last name, but, Franklin's last name is already hyphenated! haha. so I couldn't go that route, unfortunately. I love that you went with a hyphenated name! I totally would have, too! :) and, I've seen what a pain it is for Franklin to give people his last name over the phone and stuff, haha. Not lookin' forward to it! haha.
DeleteYay! You look so darling - that skirt and top are perfection. You made this top?? I still haven't decided if I am going to change my name yet or if we are going to combine our last names somehow. :) I can imagine it would be difficult to get used to. I am still saying I am 30 and I turned 31 in November. :)
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you! yeah, I made the top in a sort of mad frenzy one night. The front turned out alright, but oh man, you should see the back! Let's just say, it will forever be worn with a cardigan, hahaha. Oh man, I keep using my "old" signature. When I use my new one, I feel like I'm in middle school, testing out my name with my crush's last name or something, haha!
DeleteFirst of all, I love the color combination in this outfit- somehow both bright and mellow at the same time :) I can't believe you made the adorable top, and also can't believe you had a GOOD experience at the DMV. Pretty unheard of! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
